![]() I am thinking about upgrading from a dual-core to a quad core anyway and I think for now I'll just run the two browsers side by side.Įdit - the percentages in the original post reflect % of current total CPU util rather than overall CPU util, was being a numpty when I made that post. I think its noticeable on this laptop due to the lower processing power. I did try brave on my other computer but it has so much processing power that video barely stressed it. Safari is still giving me a flawless video when im multi-tasking so i'll keep using that for now, on this particular machine. Im testing with every other app closed so im not seeing the freezes/stuttering Ive been seeing but I'm probably not bottlenecking the CPU with everything else closed. turned it back on just to see.will be keeping it off.īrave Helper / Google Chrome Helper seems to be the main hog of the CPU I think? - cpu usage in chrome seems like its double vs safari then brave is even higher than chrome in this particular instance. Turning on hardware accel the video stops constantly. Those are not exact values but if i watch the CPU graph it literally doubles in size in brave coming from safari, I took a screen shot of the graphs for reference. Safari twitch - 10-20% cpu util - generally around 15 So I did some watching of activity monitor with nothing but twitch running and this is roughly what im seeing.īrave twitch - 30-65% cpu util- generally around 45 I have 3 tabs open and 1 video playing on twitch.įirstly - I had already disabled hardware acel and havn't set up brave payments on this browsers yet as its a fresh install. There is also a second helper at 40% and 10 threads and then the browser itself at 18% 41 threads. If there a way I can generate logs to find out whats going on and pin-point the issue?Įdit - ok so screenshot isnt here, it's basically activity monitor with Brave Helper running at 110.5%/25 threads. Chrome also has a problem with twitch/youtube for me. In safari im using uBlock origin as a standalone extension. The only thing that I found, which sounds like the same issue was this post on the community site which never got a reply but it seems like the same issue. The only ad blocker im using is Brave itself. My system and software is as follows:īrave - Version 0.59.35 Chromium. ![]() My solution at the moment is to just open twitch in safari (which never breaks 20% and keeps system running smoothly) but it's really frustrating using two browsers and opening safari only for watching twitch/youtube videos. I've uploaded a picture showing my activity monitor.Brave Helper usually floats around 100% or higher when watching videos in youtube/twitch and the browser and system starts to become unusable. I have been searching the subreddit/github/community area for this issue. ![]() However I am having one issue which is twitch/youtube causing high CPU usage. Github Repositories: Desktop - Android - iOS - Sister subredditsįirst of all, I love Brave, keep doing what you're doing, the browser is awesome and keeps getting better, I've been using it on and off for a long time now but with the ability to add extensions its now my main browser.
